How do I complete a course with you? Do I need a computer?
All our courses are self-paced and can be completed in the amount of time you have available. Although you will be learning independently your course advisor will be there to assist and advise you if and when required.
What is your accreditation?
The course has been approved by three academic boards previously i.e. Wits, Unisa and Technikon. We are however in the process of applying for registration with the South African Qualifications Authority in order to be able to qualify students ourselves. This is not yet in place and we are no longer affiliated with the above institutions. We hope that this registration will become effective in the near future, the courses are currently not recognised by any professional body.
How long will it take to complete a course?
2 years is the recommended time although you can complete sooner, depending on the amount of time you have available to meet all the requirements.
Are you bound to the “Natural Way” in any regard?
When you have completed the natural health course you are free to pursue any career you so choose. Should you complete the consultants course and wish to remain affiliated with the Natural way and receive referrals from us you would need to consistently maintain certain standards and meet certain requirements.
Do you get referrals from the Academy on completion?
The academy regularly refers clients in your area, they do still have the choice to consult with someone else should they so choose. You will however need to consistently maintain certain standards and meet certain criteria to receive referrals from us.
Can you earn enough as a natural health consultant to sustain yourself on completion?
This is relative, some people need more than others to survive on a monthly basis. It takes time to build a successful business and you would need to supplement your income in different ways before your consulting practice has grown enough to sustain you on its own. We will offer assistance and guidance where possible.
Can you work from home?
You are free to practice where you choose although many consultants prefer to work from home and establish their base there.
Does this course equip you to be a natural health consultant?
No, there is no course that is Internationally recognised that equips you as such. Mary-ann Shearer has spent many years researching, compiling and updating her natural health course and it definitely provides the academic basis for starting you off on your pathway to better health. You would need to complete the consultants course in addition to the natural health course to start practicing as a natural health consultant. To be a successful consultant takes practise and dedication “You are only as good as your last consultation”.
What can you do with these courses?
You can just use it to take responsibility for your own health. You can work with and encourage other people to do the same. You can teach people how to prepare their food. You can open a whole food restaurant or food preparation business. You can write articles for magazines and journals. You can do talks to churches, schools and groups of people. You can change the world one person at a time. You can have an impact on people's lives in a very real and life changing way.
What is Distance Learning?
Distance learning offers education to students who are not physically "on site". Students and teachers communicate through printed and electronic media. Courses are student orientated and allow students the flexibility of:
- Studying at their own pace
- Studying at their own location
While studying is there any support, firstly online and secondly telephonic or via email and is this formalized and given willingly?
Each student is allocated an e-learning advisor which assists the student in the following ways:
- Responding quickly to student enquiries
- Providing support and assistance as and when required
